Pet Insurance – Veterinary Pet Insurance
(VIP)
Pets are considered in many quarters as a part of the family. And since it is a part of the family, it is only
natural that we give them the best care there is, and that includes purchasing a pet insurance package. However,
the recession has got most pet owners out there questioning the practicality of getting insurance for their dogs
and cats. Companies understand this, which is why they have come up with cheap pet insurance as part of their
package lineup. One such company is Veterinary Pet Insurance or VIP pet insurance.
VIP is one of the largest pet insurance companies in the United States. The company has been in existence since
1980. They cater to both cat and dogs, providing them with health insurance all over the United States. Aside from
cats and dogs, they also accept pet birds as well as other exotic pets such amphibians, chameleons and others.
They offer several types of plans that are for cats and dogs. They have the VPI Superior Plan, the VPI Standard
Plan, the VPI Exotic and Avian Plan. They also have what they call an Add-on Coverage. One add-on is the
specialized VPI Cancer Rider Plan and what they call CareGuard. CareGuard is also available in two varieties: Core
and Premier. The Superior and Standard plans cover accidents, illnesses, x-rays, surgeries, cancer, prescriptions
and hospitalization. The difference between Superior and Standard lies in the amount that can be reimbursed and the
monthly or yearly premium. If you are on a tight budget, you might want to look at the Standard plan. With the
CareGuard Core option, you get vaccinations, heartworm and flea control. Availing of the CareGuard Premier would
further add urinalysis as well as dental or spay/neuter. Unique to VPI is the Cancer Rider add-on. This add-on
provides further insurance for your pet if they come down with cancer, such as lung cancer, thyroid, lymphosarcoma,
skin cancer, intestinal cancer and even leukemia. Increasing your coverage to add in the Cancer Rider will
automatically double your benefit limits.
If you want to give your pet a secure future, availing a pet insurance package will be a good move. However, you
have to consult with an expert in order to avail of something that would really suit your pet’s needs. If you are
looking for flexible pet insurance plans that you can expand through add-ons, the Veterinary Pet Insurance might
just be what you need.
